Lifetime purpose

Our Life Purpose comes from the biggest void in our childhood. This part of our purpose rarely changes. These voids or missing pieces then create the values by which we choose to live our lives. We continually seek to fill the 'void'. For example, we may have lived in a household where communication was poor. If we had taken on that pattern of being a poor communicator, we would be the type of person who poorly communicates to ourselves and to others in all seven areas of our lives. And this pattern would have created our value system which could be to not think that communication is important. This could lead, for example, to disrespect of listening to others and/or inability to listen effectively to our intuition.

Note: For some individuals, this exercise may raise considerable emotion. If you feel that remembering your childhood might raise big issues for you, contact a Power Coach at Choose a coach and they will assist you with this exercise. At the same time remember that everything that happens to us provides a vehicle for learning. Looking at life in this way, we do not move into a blame state of self or others. We become more compassionate.

In a moment we invite you to choose three values which represent the three greatest values you did not receive as a child. These are the values which were missing the most. They represent the void. Once again, one thing we would like to emphasize here is that this exercise is not meant to put blame on anyone. As you already know, 'blame' is not in the vocabulary of Power Coaching®. Everything we do in this world is about learning more about ourselves and using all of our resources to lead happier, more peaceful and meaningful lives. We believe that everything happens for a reason and we learn different things from the various events in our lives. The Universal Law of Attraction says that we attract people, places and things into our lives to help us grow emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. Some people will push our buttons. Others will celebrate life with us. Therefore, what may appear to be unconstructive events in your lifetime can actually be looked upon as positive events of deep learning. Once we become aware of the learning, we can turn the unconstructive patterns into positive ones.

To find the void, you may study The CLI Values Chart. Choose three values that "jump off the page". You may write the three values that were missing from your childhood, usually between the ages of 0 and 12 on the worksheet below. Click here now to find your values on The CLI Values Chart.

Next, beside each value, write some specifics of how this value was missing from your childhood. Example: if the value was 'respect', you might write down that your family rarely asked your opinion on anything. Perhaps they rarely attended your sports games.

Now study the three values and their specifics and write down what you believe you are meant to learn, and then teach, this lifetime as a result of the void from your childhood. By the way, there are many ways to be a teacher. We can 'teach' by simply passing knowledge on to others one on one in conversation. Of course, we can also teach by speaking in front of groups, writing books or being a Scout Leader.

Your Life Purpose statement can look like this:

“I, ………………(your name), am a student and teacher of……………………….”

example:

Sally's spiritual/life purpose: I, Sally, am a student and teacher of self-realization through self-love and deep faith in self and others.

To anchor this Lifetime purpose statement into your unconscious, you may wish to do The Brain Walk – peace if you bought this self-coaching tool or work with a Power Coach.

To discover your Period Purpose for the next 5-8 years, go to Choose a Coach and request a certified Power Coach lead you through this important exercise.
